Travel Arrangements

Overview

  • All SA invitees are responsible for their own drop-off and pick-up arrangements to/from their relevant domestic departure points
  • Flight SA -> DE: Depart Sat 24/11 @ 20:15 from OR Tambo. Via Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris. Arrive Sun 25/11 @ 14:50 at Berlin Tegel Airport  (SA Students will arrive on an earlier flight : student workshop starts at 14:00)
  • Flight DE -> SA: Depart Sat 1/12 @ 18:35 from Berlin Tegel Airport. Via Charles de Gaulle Airport, Paris. Arrive Sun 2/12 @ 11:00 at OR Tambo
  • Flight Bookings: Rennies Travel (NMMU) Lynette Day : Tel +27 41 396 8800 by Wednesday, 3 October - office hours 08:00 - 16:30, Mon - Fri
  • Additional / alternate flight arrangements: ZAR500 per transaction (own account)
  • Passport must be valid until 2 March 2013, otherwise apply immediately (own account)
  • Visa: Apply once your passport is in order (for Inkaba's account - consult supervisors re. payment)

VISAS - Schengen (Inkaba SA's account):

  • Visa costs (~ R882 ) to be paid by yourself / your institution, but is for Inkaba's account. This must be claimed back by Inkaba Group Mentors with the next round of invoicing re. student funding
  • By Fri 12 October 2012: D-line (approx.) Visa Application and Appointment (in person : Pretoria, Cape Town only) should be done - (online: http://www.southafrica.diplo.de/Vertretung/suedafrika/en/03__RK/1__Visa__short/Official__Visit__Visa.html)
  • Visas are currently taking about 5 work days to process - again, NO guarantee!  For your own safety : allow 10 working days.
