Description
Both science in general and frontier technologies researchers in particular, have struggled to communicate to Society their contribution to improve the wellbeing of people around the globe. I have estimated that almost 50 billion dollars have been invested by more that 20 countries in the design, construction, operation, maintenance and upgrade of more than 50 operating Synchrotrons facilities in the last 30 years. However, despite this level of investment, little information has been collected, analysed and communicated to the global audiences about their benefits to society. This innovative technology is changing the game about how we approach and solve human challenges in relatively short time periods, as the commercialization of COVID 19 vaccines have demonstrated, but few in the decision-making spheres, know about it. The world demands more information about Synchrotron technologies but to achieve it Synchrotron leaders and researchers have to do much more to produce meaningful information that can be understood by all… in plain language. This is the only way that regions around the worlds without access to this technology could aspire to one day get the level of investment require to access it.
