Description

The African Neutron and Synchrotron Data Analysis Competency (ANSDAC) project aims to develop expertise amongst emerging Africa-based faculty researchers to engage with and make use of large scale international institutions such as neutron and synchrotron light sources. It is funded by the Newton Fund administered by the Royal Academy of Engineering, and the DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Catalysis c*change, in kind contributions by the Universities of Glasgow, the Western Cape and SASOL and partnering with the Global Challenges Research Fund project START (Synchrotron Techniques for African Research and Technology). Three workshops on synchrotron and neutron data analysis were / will be offered in 2018 to 2020. Lectures are held by experts from the Diamond Light Source and the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in the UK as well as South African specialists. The most recent workshop took place from the 16th to the 24th of October 2019 in Cape Town. In 2020, ten of all workshop attendees will travel to the Diamond Light Source and the ISIS Neutron and Muon Source in the UK to experience beamtime first hand. This is possible through a collaboration with the UK Catalysis Hub. This presentation will provide further details on ANSDAC.
