Description
ASNAEM-2020 Research Meeting
African Synchrotron Network for Advanced Energy Materials

This is the Zoom version of the ASNAEM-2020 Workshop which was scheduled for  June 10-11, 2020 in Johannesburg Sourh Africa. We postponed that Workshop to the new  ASNAEM-2021 Workshop. To remain connected, we held a subset of our presentations in a smaller online ASNEAM Workshop Friday 10th July between 09:00 and 12:00 (UK) time.

The aim of ASNAEM is to foster the development of skilled synchrotron users in the sub-sahara region and to build lasting partnerships with the respective beneficiaries. This is with the hope that when the first synchrotron facility is built in Africa, there will be a diverse local skilled user community capable and ready to utilse the facility. This project is funded by the UK Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) initiative.

The workshop aims to provide a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration initiatives focussed on the use of synchrotron x-rays to study advanced energy materials. ASNAEM will enable a diverse local community that is well prepared to utilise the first African Light Source (AfLS).

Topics include:
  • Energy materials characterisation
  • Energy device design and fabrication
  • Energy storage
  • Other related synchrotron techniques
