erefore be shifted if you are not set to Africa / Accra\n\n \n Joint
Conference of the Pan African Conference on Crystallography (PCCr2) and t
he African Synchrotron Light Source (AfLS2)\n\n \n The second Africa
n Light Source Conference (AfLS2) will be held as a Joint Conference with
the Pan African Conference on Crystallography (PCCr2) in Accra\, Ghana fr
om 28th Jan to 2nd Feb 2019.\n     \n\n The Pan African Conference on
 Crystallography (PCCr2)\n     \n\n The PCCr2 follows a very successful
PCCr1 held in Dschang Cameroon in 2016.\n Please find a direct link to
the PCCr2 Website here and the IuCR-PCCr2 Site here\n\n Please find t
 he first annoucement of PCCr2 here\, and the PCCr1 report here.\n \n
The Pan African Conference on Crystallography is designed to bring togeth
er crystallographers\, mineralogists and solid state scientists from Afric
a and beyond. The aim is to promote crystallography and explore educationa
l opportunities for researchers in the field. The benefits of which are no
t just limited to academia\, but industry as well. Attending PCCr2 will he
lp you share and gain more knowledge and grow your professional network as
well as discovering new opportunities for growth in your career or academ
ia. The Conference continues to attract more researchers and scientists as
the years go on. We believe all the objectives of the conference will be
realized in the near future. The PCCr2  will launch the African Crystall
ography Association (AfCA) which aims to  network all African crystallogr
aphers and structural scientists.\n     \n\n The Second African Light
 Source Conference (AfLS2) : towards a brighter future\n\n \n The AfL
S2 comes after the successful first African Light Source Conference and W
orkshop (AfLS1) held at the ESRF in Grenoble in November 2015.  During
the AfLS1\, the roadmap towards the ultimate establishment of an AfLS was
developed\, together with a Steering Committee which had both a large Afri
can and global footprint. The Roadmap relates to developing the user base\
 , the projects\, deep capacity building\, promoting networks\, scientific
and technical exchanges\, building associated local infrastructural capaci
ty\, raising the profile of the project politically and developing the Pan
African strategic plan with African leadership.\n      \n The second
African light source conference will review the light source based scienc
e and also progresses the vision of an African Light Source. This conferen
ce will cover topics that include Medical Sciences\, Heritage Sciences\, G
 eosciences\, Environmental sciences\, Energy Sciences\, Nano Sciences\, Ma
terials Sciences\, Mineral Sciences\, Accelerator and Detector Sciences\,
Competitive Industry\, Capacity Building and Infrastructures. There will a
lso be sessions on the strategy and vision for an African light source. D
etails on the AfLS project are here.\n \n PCCr2 and AfLS2 will hold
a joint Conference. It is co-located\, and interdigitated\, with both shar
ed and parallel sessions. We look forward to a fruitful partnership progre
ssing the aims of both conferences. \n\n\n Participation\n\n Partic
ipants will be African scientists and students\, and also the internationa
l colleagues\, who have conducted research related to or enabled by the cr
ystal state of matter\, and also research enabled by modern Light Sources.
The strategic components of both conferences includes policy-making sessi
ons.\n \n Both English and French speaker African scientists are wel
come to attend the conference. The conference will be in both languages (E
nglish and French)\, even though most presentations and discussions will b
e in English. \n\n     \n\n Programme Outline\n\n The programme is
available from the Programme link in the left hand menu. The programme de
tails\, as they are updated\, are available in the Timetable link on the l
 eft hand menu.\n\n \n PCCr2 - sessions are in orange\n \n
     AfLS2- sessions are in purple\n \n Joint PCCr2 and AfLS2 - s
essions are in green\n\n\n     \n\n Students and Early Career Scientis
ts welcome\n\n Students and Early Career Scientists who would like to a
ttend should register and in addition apply for support using the link in
the left panel.\n \n Language Policy\n All languages are welcome
to attend the conference (the conference can be both in French and English
