1. Travelling to Cape Town

  • INTERNATIONAL DELEGATES : A number of international airlines fly directly to Cape Town International Airport: KLM, Emirates, Qatar Airways, British Airways, Singapore Airlines and Turkish Airlines. Other airlines fly to Cape Town via OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg: South Africa Airways, Qantas, Etihad Airways, Virgin Atlantic, Air France, and Lufthansa. Flights into Cape Town from other African countries are generally routed via Johannesburg as well.
  • LOCAL DELEGATES: There are numerous flights in and out of Cape Town on local airlines. For those driving to Cape Town, the main routes into Cape Town are the N1 (from the north) and the N2 (from the east).
  • AIRPORT TRANSFERS: Cape Town International Airport is approximately 25 minutes (17km) from the UCT Campus, and there are many airport transfer options available at the airport. These include a range of airport shuttles, and the MyCiTi bus that goes into the city (Civic Centre and V&A Waterfront) and connects to the CTICC. If you would prefer to arrange an airport transfer in advance, we would suggest Kingdom Tours and Transfers who will be to assist with an individual or group transfer from Cape Town International Airport.

2. Things to do in Cape Town

Cape Town is rich in cultural diversity, and offers an endless list of interesting things to do and beautiful places to see. You definitely want to make the most of your visit to Cape Town by taking in some of the local sights (see below), not only in the city, but also in the surrounding areas of the Western Cape. Some of the best features of our region are our many wine routes – some as close as 15-20 minutes from the city. You may also want to consider adding on a few extra days to your trip and doing one of the tours on offer by the recommended provider.

If good food and drinks are your thing, Cape Town not only has excellent wine on offer, but also has a booming coffee culture and a thriving craft beer industry that you will definitely want to check out. Here are a few places to visit…

For places to eat, drink and shop, the V&A Waterfront, which is easily accessible from the CTICC, has an enormous range of options to suit all sorts of tastes. The Two Oceans Aquarium is also situated at the V&A Waterfront, and is worth a visit. Close to the CTICC isLong Street, which offers a great selection of interesting eating, drinking and shopping options.

3. Tours

A good way to get around and see the city is on the Hop On – Hop Off bus, which stops right outside the CTICC.

For those who enjoy the outdoors, here are some places to add to your itinerary:
