Abstract content <br> &nbsp; (Max 300 words)

We present early results of the Southern African Large
Telescope (SALT) observations of gravitationally lensed
galaxies. The systems were discovered by Herschel Space
Observatory in large area maps conducted by the
Herschel-ATLAS team and typically comprise a foreground
optically-bright lensing galaxy and a background submm-bright lensed galaxy. The SALT observations are aimed at
determining the redshifts of the lensing galaxies and
exploiting them to characterize the individual lensing
systems and the sample, in conjunction with observations
at other international telescopes.
