Abstract Scattering tensors are of great importance in the interpretation of Raman Scattering spectra. The symmetry properties are used to determine the matrix elements of the scattering tensors. Using Birman's method we have calculated the Clebsch-Gordan coefficients for first-order Raman Scattering tensors in Si and Ge with Oh7 symmetry. The matrix elements of the scattering tensors are linear combination of Clebsch-Gordan coefficients. Our theoretical results are used in the interpretation of available experimental data.
