Track: 2: VGOS Strategies and Expected Results

February 26th 2015 the United Nations General assembly adopted the resolution on the Global Geodetic Reference Frame (GGRF). Presently major effort under a UN mandate is entered into developing a road map giving guidance to how the GGRF shall become sustainable. This work will influence the geodetic framework conditions in the years to come. As a contribution to global geodesy, Norway is building a core station at Ny-Ålesund, Spitsbergen. Presently the station buildings and fundaments are finished and waiting for the new twin VLBI telescopes to be installed.
