Searches for Z' decays to hadronic taus with the ATLAS detector at the LHC --WITHDRAWN--

Abstract

The Z’ gauge boson is a hypothetical particle of spin-1 postulated by many theories beyond the Standard Model. In this talk, I will describe a search for high-energy Z’ bosons decaying to two hadronic taus, the most sensitive decay mode among all possible tau decays. This search uses the 8 TeV 2012 data recorded by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). For the analysis, different reconstruction algorithms are used to reconstruct the Z’ invariant mass, such as the MMC (Missing Mass Calculator) mass, the visible mass and the transverse mass. The efficiency of several triggers is investigated, and the reconstruction of tau tracks in dense environments is also described.
