African Synchrotron Network for Advanced Energy Materials
Statement about ASNEAM Workshop Postponement
After thorough consideration, due to the pandemic COVID-19 situation, the ASNEAM Committee has decided to postpone the workshop, originally planned on June 10-11, 2020 in Johannesburg Sourh Africa.
We hope to reconvene for the main Workshop in a years time. We will aim to keep the original venue (Johannesburg Business School).
To remain connected, we will hold a subset of our presentations in a smaller online ASNEAM Workshop Friday 10th July between 09:00 and 12:00 (UK) time.
We are still taking in abstracts, which we will review for online talks, just as we would for a normal conference.
Details to follow
The aim of ASNAEM
is to foster the development of skilled synchrotron users in the sub-sahara region and to build lasting partnerships with the respective beneficiaries. This is with the hope that when the first synchrotron facility is built in Africa, there will be a diverse local skilled user community capable and ready to utilse the facility. This project is funded by the UK Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) initiative.
The workshop aims to provide a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration initiatives focussed on the use of synchrotron x-rays to study advanced energy materials. ASNAEM will enable a diverse local community that is well prepared to utilise the first African Light Source
